A Risky Choice
by Melanie White
At the water's edge I stand deciding whether to cross. You look back and offer a hand, but I am at a loss.
What is on the other side? I do not know for sure, and the river is so wide I'm not sure I can endure
the dampening of my dream to explore the other bank if I get swept away in the stream because I fell off the plank.
On this side, I am warm and dry assured by what I know. Crossing could risk my life, but I decide to go.
